How much do driving lessons cost?
Driving lessons with Ace Driving School start from $85 per hour, with discounted multi-lesson packages that bring the per-lesson price down further. Pricing and packages vary by location, so choose your location to see current rates for Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast or Adelaide, for both manual and automatic lessons.
How many driving lessons do I need to pass my driving test?
Most learner drivers need 10 to 15 professional driving lessons alongside private practice, depending on experience and confidence. Learners who take professional lessons are up to 50% more likely to pass their practical test first time. Your Ace Driving School instructor assesses your driving in the first lesson and builds a personalised plan toward your test, so you only book the lessons you actually need.
What age can I start learning to drive?
In Queensland you can get your learner’s permit at 16 years old, and in South Australia from 16 as well. Ace Driving School welcomes learners of any age, from teenagers starting on their L-plates to adults getting their licence later in life, with patient, fully accredited instructors and no upper age limit.
Do driving lessons count toward my logbook hours?
Yes, for Queensland learners. Every hour with an accredited Ace Driving School instructor records as three hours in your Queensland learner logbook, up to the maximum allowed under the scheme. It is one of the fastest ways to build the supervised hours required before your practical test. Note that South Australia is moving away from the logbook system, so requirements there differ, ask your local Ace instructor for the current South Australian process.
Can I learn in a manual or automatic car?
Both. Ace Driving School teaches manual and automatic driving lessons in modern, dual-control vehicles. Alternatively, you can learn in your own car if it is roadworthy, fully insured, registered, the instructor agrees, and you have a minimum of 30 hours in your logbook. Please note that the first lesson will always be in an instructor’s vehicle to assess your ability. Your instructor will help you decide which licence type suits your goals, whether you are after a full manual licence or a quicker automatic pass.
Do driving instructors pick you up from home?
Yes. Every Ace Driving School lesson includes free pick-up and drop-off from your home, school, or workplace, as long as both pick up and drop off fall under the instructor’s coverage area, seven days a week. There’s no need to travel to a depot; your local instructor comes to you anywhere in our service areas.
